Everyone knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day – but can it actually help children learn better? Research evidence says yes; skipping breakfast could diminish school performance. The growing body of research evidence underscores the importance that all students have access to a balanced breakfast.

In the Bellingham School District, a school breakfast is offered, at no cost, to all students taking the WASL or WLPT-II state required test on the day they are testing in school. Students wishing to participate go to their cafeteria at the regularly scheduled breakfast time. After selecting their breakfast, they identify themselves to the cashier as a testing student.
