Dear J-,
You will never guess what I did over this weekend? I read a pretty good book. The book was called The Iceberg Hermit. It was good because it had a lot of action; it was very imaginitive; not to much though; it was very unpredictable, you don't find out what is going on until near the end; the boy is smart and does stuff you usually wouldn't think of doing; it had cool wild arctic animals in it; and the plot building up to all the action was very good. Allen, the kid; killed two polar bears with a small 6 inch dagger. Allen almost died a couple of times of starvation. He almost died of loneliness too, but he had his pet polar bear with him most of the time. It was imaginative because Allen thought of some very cool things. He cut a hole through the floor (ceiling) for a chimney. Otherwise the cabin filled up with a thick black smoke that could have easily caused death. It was imaginative, but it was not like a science fiction book. It was unpredictable because you never knew what was going to happen to Allen. Was it a bear? Was it starvation? You never knew until it happened. You never really figured out what was going on until the end. The last chapter of the book explained everything in detail. The boy is actually very smart. Everybody thinks he is really stupid and doesn't know a whole heep. Making a chimney for the smoke to escape. He used a small anchor and a harpoon. He also made a small raft out of barrals and planks from the outside of his boat. He does many other things also! It had many wild Arctic animals in it. Such as the polar bear, seals, walrus; birds, etc. All the Arctic animals come in landy for Allen and the Eskimos he lived with. They used almost every part of the body of the animals. The plot building up to all the action was awsome. They always got you ready for what was coming up after that. The book was very good You're probably asking yourself why did he read ?it? I read it because it looked pretty cool from the front cover. A young man standing next to an iceberg mountain with a big polar bear standing behind him? I also wanted to know why the character and the bear were standing there. Other friends told me that is was a pretty good book so I read it. It also looked from the cover, it was unexplainable. I wanted to know what it was all about. It turned out to be a pretty good book. I learned the truth: you can never judge a book by its cover. This book you sure couldn't of.
