Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA)

§
In the fall, the DRA is administered to all students in grades 1-2 and to students in grades 3-5 reading at or below DRA Level 24 (2nd grade level).
§
In the spring, the DRA is administered to all students in grades K-2 and to students in grades 3-5 reading at or below DRA Level 24 (2nd grade level).
§
Each student test administration is not complete until the correct level is clearly identified.
§
Each grade level has a DRA level ceiling which is the highest score to be reported to the District (indicted by bold numbers in tables below). No further testing is required once the student has reached the DRA ceiling.
§
Use the instructional level (that is, the highest level the student can read at 90%+ accuracy) when determining each student's DRA level for reporting purposes.

Degrees of Reading Power (DRP)

§
The DRP is administered to all grade 3-9 students except those reading at or below DRA Level 24 (2nd grade level).
§
All students must be given the test form indicated in the chart below for each grade level and season.
§
The test is to be administered in one sitting but without time limits – allow students to continue as long as they are productively engaged.
§
If students do not finish all of the items, score the completed items and use the raw score to obtain the DRP unit.
§
Refer to student IEP to determine if a lower level DRP test is necessary.
§
Use the instructional level (P= .75) when determining each student’s DRP unit for reporting purposes.

Oral Reading Fluency Assessment (ORFA)

§
In the fall, the Oral Reading Fluency Assessment is administered to all students in grades 6-8, and to those students below standard in reading in grade 9. Grade 10 administration is optional.
§
In the winter and spring, the Oral Reading Fluency Assessment is administered to all students in grades 6-9 that are below standard in reading. Grade 10 administration remains optional.
§
The ORFA is an unpracticed reading - students are not to read the grade level passages before timing begins.
§
Reported scores are the correct words per minute recorded from a one-minute read.
§
Instructions on scoring comprehension, decoding, and expression are in the Fluency Assessment Binder.
§
Refer to the Fluency Assessment Binder for reading passages and all test protocols.
